Privacy Policy

AT Companion is a Chrome extension that helps you evaluate car listings on AutoTrader UK. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is used.

1. What data we collect

When you use AT Companion, the extension reads the text content of AutoTrader listing pages you visit (such as the listing title, price, mileage, and seller description). This text is sent to our server for AI analysis so we can display relevant badges and signals on the page.

We do not collect:

Your name, email address, or any personal contact information
Your AutoTrader account credentials or login data
Your browsing history outside of AutoTrader
Payment details (payments are handled entirely by Stripe)

2. How we use your data

Listing text sent to our server is used solely to generate analysis badges displayed within the extension. We do not store listing text beyond what is needed to process a single request, and we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the extension's core functionality.

If you subscribe to AT Companion Pro, we use your Google account identity (via Chrome's identity API) to verify your subscription status. We store only a hashed identifier — we never see or store your Google password.

3. Local storage

The extension uses Chrome's local storage to:

Cache analysis results so that revisiting a listing does not trigger a repeat API call
Remember your preferences (e.g. which badge categories are enabled)
Store your subscription status locally to avoid repeated server checks

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.

4. Third-party services

AT Companion's AI analysis is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Listing text is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing in accordance with Anthropic's privacy policy. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Anthropic.

Pro subscriptions are managed by Stripe. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and is governed by Stripe's privacy policy. We do not store your card details.

5. Data retention

We do not maintain a database of user activity. Analysis requests are processed in real time and are not logged or stored on our servers beyond the immediate response.

6. Your rights

Because we do not store personal data, there is nothing for us to delete or provide upon request. If you uninstall the extension, all locally cached data is automatically removed from your device by Chrome.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
